Then the people of that district need to take control and elect a congressional candidate who will not be swayed by such factors. It all comes back to the people any a democracy any way you slice it. Tell me where I'm going wrong here?

I think it would be a terrible move for the Dems to nominate either Kerry or Edwards for prez...if Edwards is a selection for VP he will probably be ok but I think it will spell another defeat for the Dems if he is nominated at the head of the ticket IMHO.

I still say all of this goes back to something bigger than left crooks (Democrats) and right crooks (Republicans). What is even more disturbing is that regardless of what politcal spectrum you sit on, America is slowly heading towards a one-party system. Right now the Republicans control the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. (D) or (R), that is not good. The term, "Checks and Balances," should mean something. The Democrats have no leadership...And no power.

We are $7,000,000,000,000 in debt. The Chinese own 1/4 of our debt. We are headed right down the drain I'm afraid.

This is not all the Republican's or Democrat's fault, but again, our forefathers wanted the Bill of Rights for a reason. What will you give?

This is just a superficial take on the viability of either kerry or edwards
*note* the election was close!!!
Kerry lost the Catholic vote pretty hard. As far as religious groups go, they're kind of 50/50 dem/repubs, lots in the swing category. Saying that he's a devout Catholic and being pro-choice made him seem like the hugest hippocrit ever (I would appreciate people backing off of Catholic jokes here since I'm giving an honest objective analysis). He also had "photo-ops" of him done receving Communion after he made it publicly known he was staunch on the matter of Pro-Choice. I know no one is perfect (people of religious direction especially included), but as a politician we all know you have to SEEM sweet as candy and someone you'd let your baby kiss. I don't like this fact of life, but it's something you can't change... People vote on image.
That and during the election political analysts criticized him for being so anti-Bush that he didn't seem like he had is OWN views. I'm sure he did, but it didn't SEEM like it.
I'm sure it's not necessarily Kerry's fault, more so his political/image advisors.
- as a moderate I'd support the Dems. seeking a new face they can mold
- Otherise, I didn't dislike the guy at all. He would have been better off not trying to argue he is both a Catholic and Pro-Choice.

Edwards... North Carolina does not like him (see my posting about health care in North Carolina). The medical community does not like him.

If Kerry/Edwards didn't have one of these huge vices going against, the Dems may have pulled out this close election.

It's looking more likely that Obama will run in 2012 than 08. He is saying he wants to serve his entire term as senator. I saw a clip about it on CNN last night and here's an article -http://www.suntimes.com/output/sweet/cst-nws-sweet23.html

Of course he can always change his mind.

In all honesty i can see a Warner/Clinton. Hillary ticket that is.
Let's be honest. I am not liberal i vote for who i think can get the job done in either party.
But honestly democrat or republican.
Who has actually put together any national or international policies?
The Republican party. We all know that.
What has killed the Democratic party. As was and is in a book. Their lack of a back bone. The Democratic party preys on the people.
Who mainly are what. Poor and misunderstood and looking for change. Well the book points to that.
In all honesty as far as doing anything with a backbone. I can't vote for a Democrat that has no back bone. We can locally based on what gets done. But for president. Would anyone vote for Rick Boucher based on his voting record. Hell no. Would anyone vote for him in the 9th district based on what he gets done. Hell yes.
Anyone see the difference. And that is the same when it comes to the Presidential Seat.
